NEW STUDENT COMMITTEE

UNVEILS BOLD INITIATIVES TO BOOST DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION

An  energetic  meeting held   on   Saturday   11

January 2025 in class 211 of the school campus ,the newly elected Student Committee announced an ambitious set of resolutions designed to celebrate diversity and empower every voice in the student body while favoring the feeling of belonging to a same community among students. “We want every student to feel seen, heard, and valued,” said committee chair, NGALIEUK. “Our new initiatives are all about creating platforms where diverse talents and backgrounds can come together to enrich our school culture.”

Key among the resolutions is the launch of a new school newspaper. The publication will feature a broad spectrum of school activities from cultural features and opinion pieces to profiles of students whose experiences reflect the unique makeup of the upperclassmen with incoming students, with a focus on bridging Another innovative resolution is the introduction of a “Students-to- Students Sponsorship” program. This peer mentorship    initiative    pairs

tudents Sponsorship” program. This peer mentorship initiative pairs social, cultural, and academic gaps. Committee member NDEDI MOHAMMED, committee member in charge of academic affairs, explained, “Through sponsorship, we hope to foster a sense of belonging among new students, especially those who might feel isolated. It’s about building lasting bonds that extend well beyond the classroom.”

The committee is also turning its attention to athletics with plans to inaugurate new handball competitions(one which is already effective and visible right now) which was before “neglected”. Although traditionally less known in the school’s sports calendar, handball is expected to promote teamwork and break down barriers between different student groups. “We’re excited to bring a fresh, inclusive sporting event to our community,” said MOUIL Alain, committee member in charge of sports. “Sports unite us in a way that words sometimes can’t.”

In addition to the athletic and mentorship programs, the committee revealed plans to offer public speaking training sessions followed by a competitive forum. These sessions are intended to equip students with the confidence and skills to communicate effectively. “Public speaking is an essential life skill,” . “By honing these skills in a supportive environment, we’re

not just preparing students for competitions we’re preparing them for leadership in every area of life.”

Students  across  the  school have      welcomed      these proposals.    Senior    student Ignace ELOUGA commented, “It’s inspiring to see our peers taking    steps    to    ensure everyone feels included. I’m especially looking forward to the newspaper it’s a great way to share our diverse reasoning With  these  resolutions,  the Student  Committee  aims  to spark  a  wave  of  positive change,   emphasizing   that diversity    isn’t    just    about differences       it’s       about harnessing those differences to create a richer and  more dynamic    community.    The committee’s plans are set to roll out in the coming weeks, with  detailed  schedules  for each initiative to be announced at the next school assembly. As the school year progresses, all eyes are already noticing all these  decisions taken during this very first meeting on these new programs to see how they transform       the       student experience, paving the way for a    more    innovative    and engaged   community.   is   a powerful     tool     to     relay information  in  our  campus,” Said    the    elder   TAKAM, committee                 student community.   “A   newspaper Advicer. “It gives us a chance to spotlight semestrial school update and ensure that every narrative matters.
